Brass
Private trumpet, trombone, French horn, euphonium, and tuba lessons for students and adults, near 71st and Yale.
Private brass instruction can be hard to find in Tulsa outside of school band, yet brass is where one on one teaching makes the biggest difference. In a band room of sixty students, a director cannot watch every player's embouchure, breathing, or tongue placement, and small habits formed in the first year decide how high, how long, and how beautifully a student will be able to play.
Brass lessons at our Tulsa studio near 71st and Yale cover trumpet, trombone, French horn, euphonium (baritone), and tuba. Every private lesson is at least 45 minutes and builds a healthy embouchure, efficient breathing, and a full, centered sound, along with the reading, theory, and ear training that help students move up in their band, earn chairs, and play with confidence in any style, from concert band and orchestra to jazz.

FAQ:
Q: Which brass instruments do you teach?
A: We teach trumpet, trombone, French horn, euphonium (also called baritone), and tuba. Students can study the instrument they play in school band or orchestra, and players who switch instruments, such as trumpet to French horn, get guidance through the change.
Q: What age is best to start a brass instrument?
A: Most students start brass around age 10 or 11, often alongside their first year of school band, once their adult front teeth are in. Younger children who are eager to start can begin with our pre-instrument classes or piano to build reading and rhythm skills first.
Q: My child is already in band. Do they need private lessons?
A: Band teaches students to play together, while private lessons focus on each student's own embouchure, sound, and technique. One on one instruction helps students fix habits early, learn difficult passages, and prepare for chair tests, honor bands, and all-state auditions.
Q: Do you help with jazz band and all-state audition music?
A: Yes. Teachers help students prepare all-state etudes and scales, chair test music, and jazz band parts, including style, swing feel, and improvisation, so students go into every audition and rehearsal prepared.
