Yes, you will need an instrument to start taking classes, as it is essential for practicing and learning effectively.
Absolutely! Our teachers are dedicated to helping you not only master playing your instrument but also to develop a strong foundation in reading music. You will also dive into music theory, which will deepen your understanding of how music works and enhance your ability to play. No, you won’t need to start from the basics! Since you already have some experience with your instrument, you’ll begin by playing for your teacher, who will assess your current skill level. Together, you’ll create a personalized plan to build on what you already know and continue growing. Your lessons will be tailored to help you progress from where you are, so you can focus on developing more advanced techniques and expanding your musical abilities.
Absolutely. We welcome students at all levels, from complete beginners to pre-professional and advanced musicians. Our co-directors have extensive experience working with students preparing for college auditions, competitions, and professional performance careers. Lessons for advanced students are tailored to their specific goals, whether that means refining repertoire, developing technique, or preparing for a particular performance or audition.
While our curriculum is built on strong classical fundamentals, our instructors work with students to explore the styles they're most excited about, whether that's jazz, rock, pop, metal, or contemporary vocals. Many of our instructors have specific genre specialties, which you can find on their individual bios. Let us know what you're interested in, and we'll match you with an instructor and lesson plan suited to your goals.
